Our story

A bride shouldn't have to fly to plan her wedding.

Ilaya Bridal is the Dubai bridal shopping concierge: curating, sourcing and shipping full wedding wardrobes to brides around the world.

How Ilaya started

It began with my sister's wedding.

In October 2025, my sister got married in Leicester. Over 500 guests. Nikkah and reception on the same day. We had three months, and we were sourcing every piece of it from Dubai.

The brief grew the way Somali weddings always do. It started with her bridal wardrobe, gold and perfume. Then the bridesmaids. Then the henna night. Then her new home in the UK, kitchenware, living room decor, the carpets. By the time we boarded the flight to Leicester, I had sourced, packed and shipped a full wedding and a full home, from a Dubai apartment, in under ninety days.

The hardest call came days before we travelled. We decided we wanted custom favour boxes for every guest, embossed with the bride and groom's initials. Five hundred of them. With almost no time left. It was a risky call, the kind of request most suppliers would refuse on the timeline alone. But the right person, briefed clearly, with a bride who couldn't be let down, said yes. The boxes arrived in Leicester in time. Every single one.

That week is when I knew. This is what I'm built for. Not just the sourcing, the relationships, the markets. The standing in front of a tailor at midnight to verify a stitch. The chasing of a supplier across three calls to confirm a delivery slot. The refusing to let a single thing slip because the bride is someone I love.

Ilaya Bridal exists because every bride deserves to be sourced for the way I sourced for my sister. With the same care, the same scrutiny, the same refusal to let anything fall through. You don't have to be family for us to treat your wedding like it is.

Diaspora weddings are complicated enough without adding a flight to Dubai for every trousseau decision. Brides in London and Minneapolis, Nairobi and Mogadishu all want the same things: the deep velvet diracs, the fine gold, the perfect oud, the baatis for the henna night, and they all hit the same wall when they try to source from afar.

The WhatsApp voice notes asking cousins to pick things up. The friend-of-a-friend who promises to help and doesn't deliver. The photos that don't match what arrives in the box. The budgets that balloon when nobody is accountable for the total.

Everything handpicked. Every item approved. Every box sealed only when you say so.

We built Ilaya Bridal as the solution. A personal concierge in Dubai who speaks your language, knows your traditions, and has walked every tailor, every souk, every boutique, so you don't have to.

How we work

When you begin an order with us, we learn your wedding in detail: your dates, your style, your colour story, your budget, your must-haves and your flexibles. Then we go to work. We visit the tailors and the souks on your behalf. Every piece sourced gets a video approval from you before we proceed to the next item.

When every item is confirmed, we pack it into one sealed box, a full bridal wardrobe, one delivery, and ship it to your door with full tracking. Aramex for Somalia and East Africa, DHL and FedEx for Europe, North America, the UK and Australia.

Why Dubai

Dubai has become the global centre for bridal wear from the Horn of Africa to the Gulf. Meena Bazaar, Naif, Deira Gold Souk, the tailor workshops of Satwa: between them they source fabric from India, Pakistan and China, stock jewellery from across the Gulf, carry every perfume house that matters, and house tailors who can make any silhouette you bring them.

We've spent years building relationships with these sourcing partners. When a bride sends a reference image on WhatsApp, we already know which three tailors can execute it, which two boutiques stock the nearest ready-made version, and which vendor is most likely to give us a fair price.

That's the work you're really paying for: not just the shopping, but the knowing.

Behind every piece

Thousands of tiny decisions, stitched by hand.

A single bridal veil can take a week of beading, crystal by crystal, placed on the floor of a Dubai workshop.

We visit, verify, and video-call you through every significant step, so the craft behind your box is never hidden. When something doesn't meet our standard, we say so, and we say it before it lands in your box, not after.

Our values

Three promises we keep.

i.

Honest pricing, always itemised

Every quote is fully itemised: coordination fee separated from each curated piece. You see what's in your order before we source it, and you only ever pay what's in the quote you accepted. No surprise additions, no hidden line items.

ii.

Nothing sourced without approval

Every significant item gets a video walk-through before we buy it. You approve fabric, colour, fit and finish from your phone. Gold requires written WhatsApp sign-off. Nothing enters the box you haven't said yes to.

iii.

Your box, sealed when you say so

Before we seal and ship, we send a final box video showing every item you're receiving. You give the green light. Then, and only then, does it go to the courier.
